The adaptor itself fits into the 3-bolt pattern holes, and the cleat is then attached as normal via the 2-bolt system. The result is a wider, more stable platform when walking, effectively recessing the cleat on your flat-soled road shoes and helping to prevent damage and excess wear. Sold as a pair.
